Every live signal in one place: the dashboard's derived activity state, the INGV aviation colour code, the official tremor graphs, Toulouse VAAC ash advisories and Catania Airport status — each value timestamped and linked to its official source.
The status shown is a dashboard interpretation, derived mechanically from the latest official products: the INGV aviation colour code (VONA) and Toulouse VAAC ash advisories, with tremor, official updates and airport status as context. Every value carries its source and timestamp. It is not an official alert level.
GREEN: normal, non-eruptive conditions. YELLOW: unrest above background. ORANGE: eruption underway with no or minor ash emission, or heightened unrest. RED: eruption with significant ash emission into the atmosphere. It is an aviation-focused code issued by INGV Osservatorio Etneo in its VONA notices.
Your browser re-checks the sources every 2–10 minutes via our own servers, which query the official sites at respectful intervals. If a source stops responding, the value is marked stale or unavailable — never silently reused.
