Earthquakes located by the INGV national seismic network in a box centred on Mount Etna, the summit craters and the main towns. When Toulouse VAAC has an active advisory, the map also overlays the official ash-cloud polygons — observed, and forecast at +6, +12 and +18 hours.
Each circle is an earthquake: size grows with magnitude and colour classifies it. Click an event for magnitude, depth, time and distance from the summit craters. You can filter by the last 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days.
Seismic data is re-checked every few minutes from INGV's FDSN catalogue and ash advisories from the Toulouse VAAC. Each source shows its own update time, so the freshness of the data is always verifiable.
